First Nations led an initiative to establish, through legislation, four institutions which are operated by and for First Nations. On March 23, 2005, the First Nations Fiscal and Statistical Management Act (FSMA) became law. On March 31st, 2006, Governor General Michaëlle Jean signed the Order in Council to bring the First Nations Fiscal and Statistical Management Act into force, effective April 1, 2006. For more information, please contact the institutions listed below.
